Subway Performer

I found Gene Weingarten's Pearls before Breakfast: Joshua Bell on the Subway particularly interesting. First off kudos to Joshua Bell for taking the time to go through with this social experiment. The fact that this brilliant musician went unnoticed by most in the subway is astounding, but at the same time it doesn't really surprise me. At no point did he play any "pop culture" songs but rather some of the greatest classics of our time. It was because of this that he attracted such a small amount of attention. I find this to be a solid commentary on how little the general public really knows about entertainment beyond popular culture: what they see on TV/what they hear on the radio.
